Fiordland Families Newsletter Issue 10 - 12-25 July 2019

This month is Plastic Free July - a global movement that encourages people around the world to refuse single-use plastics and reduce plastic consumption overall for the month of July. This issue we explore why plastic production and disposal is such a huge issue, and we give you some helpful, local-specific ideas to reduce and eliminate plastic use in Fiordland.

No matter your age, income, gender or location, our enormous plastic consumption affects us all with the non-biodegradable waste sticking around for generations to come. The problem might feel too large to change, but starting somewhere is better than doing nothing at all. It is getting more difficult to recycle plastics in New Zealand, so focusing on reducing our consumption is a better way to care for our environment.
